7th KCO Symposium

The KCO (Knowledge Community Observatory) community is a network of practitioners and researchers who explore and leverage the role that communities play in organizational development. We believe in combining professional practices with theoretical knowledge to foster the sharing of best practices and collaborative innovation.

The KCO Symposium is open to both researchers and practitioners. We accept submissions in English or French, but presentations are in French.

This call for papers focuses on the role played by all types of community and creative spaces in collaborative innovation. Contributions to this special issue may include, but are not limited to:

Communities and Collaborative Innovation

• How can knowledge communities (internal and external) foster collaborative innovation?
• How can we create and foster a community of experts, customers, and users to support collaborative innovation?
• What organizational arrangements have various communities developed to innovate collaboratively?
• What are the management mechanisms (organizational levers) that support the development of collaborative innovation practices within knowledge communities?
• How can we foster interactions between formal institutions and knowledge communities to promote innovation?
• How can we move from generating ideas and knowledge to integrating them into the organization's innovation process?
• What impact do community platforms have on collaborative innovation?
• How can artificial intelligence help foster collaborative innovation on community platforms?
• What effect does the virtualization of communities have on collaborative innovation?

Creative Spaces, Cross-Border Relationships, and Collaborative Innovation

• What makes a creative space conducive to collaborative innovation?
• What roles do creative spaces play in fostering collaborative innovation at each stage of the innovation process?
• What are the best ways to foster the growth of communities within creative spaces?
• How can creative spaces be organized to support the creative work of communities? What role do creative spaces play in ensuring the sustainability of communities?
• What is the role of neighboring actors and/or innovation intermediaries in the transfer of knowledge from one community to another?

Interested researchers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals for presentations on one of the topics listed above or on the general topic of communities in organizations and society. This symposium on communities is intended to be open. This commitment to openness applies equally to the theoretical frameworks employed, the methodological choices made, and the fields of study.

All authors must submit their papers to chaire-innoATgrenoble-iae.fr by March 2, 2024:

• For completed papers: a complete paper of no more than 10,000 words.
• For research papers currently in progress: a paper of between 5,000 and 7,000 words, to be presented at the symposium in poster format.
• For the case studies: A one-page summary using the following template:
