Objective

To cope with growing international competition, SMEs with limited resources have developed innovation projects within collaborative networks (CNs). The literature shows that certain capabilities can enhance innovation in SMEs. However, it remains to be seen how SMEs should mobilize CN resources within their own organizations and collaborate with other firms to successfully carry out their innovation projects.

The main objectives of this project are to provide SMEs with an effective and cost-efficient method and tools to enhance innovation within their organizations. To achieve this, the project will be structured around the following objectives: (i) to describe the types of innovation-oriented knowledge, capabilities, and mechanisms of ACAP in SMEs participating in innovation networks; (ii) to operationalize the concept of ACAP by developing a maturity framework that will enable SMEs to measure their ACAP and assess their performance;(iii) provide SMEs with tools based on recent serious game techniques that enable them to model their knowledge absorption practices in innovation projects.
